- The old Canon Memorial Hospital eye-sore asbestos-ridden building in underway for demolition. This will open a whole new opportunity of retail, restaurant and residential additions to Banner Elk.
- A new Homewood Suites by Marriott hotel is under construction across from New River Lumber on Hwy 184
- It appears that there is a new business about to come into the old Puerto Nuevo restaurant space....hopefully this will be another restaurant in walking distance.
